Yuba City – A speeding rider died when he was thrown from his motorcycle after hitting a vehicle from the opposite direction near George Washington Boulevard Saturday morning, the California Highway Patrol said.
Matthew griffin, 25, was on the eastbound lane of Reed Road at around 7a.m. when he crashed onto the rear side of a pickup truck heading west. CHP reports that Griffin landed on agricultural field, some 180 feet away from the crash site.
Authorities confirmed that speeding is indeed a factor in the said accident as Griffin was going for more than 100 mph while the 59-year-old pick-up driver was driving 10mph slower than the prescribed speed limit in the area.
