DOG BITE ACCIDENT: Pomona Girl Hospitalized after Pit Bull Attack
March 2, 2010
Pomona – A 4-year-old girl suffered serious injuries and was rushed to the hospital after her uncle’s pit bull bit her on the face, Monday afternoon.
According to Lt. Paul Hitt of the Pomona Police Department, the girl was visiting her uncle in an apartment in block 1600 of East Kingsley Avenue when the pit bull attacked her. Police says she may have startled and awaken her uncle’s pet while it was sleeping.
The girl’s injuries to the face were not life-threatening, but they were very severe. She was rushed to Loma Linda University Medical Center for a reconstructive surgery.
Hitt says the 3-year-old male pit bull did not have any current anti-rabies vaccinations, aside from the fact that it was not licensed. It was taken into custody by the Pomona Valley Humane Society because of the danger it poses to people.
The victim’s uncle was not apprehended, police says.
