Multiple vehicle crash kills 2

Irwindale, California – An accident involving a Foothill Transit bus and a car caused a massive chain reaction along the 210 Freeway at around 6AM today, March 27, 2009.

According to authorities, a minor collision between two cars occurred around 6AM, east of the Irwindale exit. Both drivers pulled up to the side when they suddenly heard screeching tires and a loud crash.

Eight vehicles were involved in the traffic accident killing two people and injuring five others, including one in critical condition.

The California Highway Patrol had to close the eastbound lane of the freeway for several hours as a truck carrying fences was rear-ended by a stake bed truck, scattering debris resulting in a massive traffic jam.

Rescuers flew in a Medevac chopper to tend to injured motorists and officials earlier advised commuters to consider alternate routes but have since reopened all lanes of the 210 Freeway at around 3PM.

There were no passengers on the transit bus.
