In 2006, motorcycle accidents account for 11% of the total traffic fatalities. Specifically, about 4,810 motorcyclists died in mishaps a 5.1% increase from 4,576 in 2005.

In most instances, motorcyclists involved in accidents have invalid license or lack safety gears such as helmets.
