Hit and Run Driver Arrested

Los Angeles, C.A. - A 22-year-old driver who fled the scene after fatally hitting a bicyclist in Echo Park was arrested.
According to Officer Christine Eastburn of the Los Angeles Fire Department, the 44-year-old bicyclist was riding south on Glendale Boulevard when he was struck by a driver identified as Alejandro Hidalgo, resident of Panorama City. The driver was driving within the same lane as the victim when the accident occurred.
A person who witnessed the incident was able to write down the vehicle’s license plate number, and the hit-and-run driver was arrested in his residence after two hours. Hidalgo was booked on the suspicion of vehicular manslaughter.
Eastburn said it was determined by the police that Hidalgo was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.
The victim was killed at the scene of the accident. His identity remains undisclosed.
