Product Recall: CPSC Announces Recall of Munchkin Bathtub Toys
October 18, 2010
Washington – The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced the recall of about 34,000 units of bathroom toys being sold by North Hills, California-based Munchkin Inc., the agency report said.
CPSC said the toys, which were mostly bathtub submarines, were recalled due to risk of injuries to children. The agency has received about 19 reported incidents of lacerations in the boy’s genital area where one of the incidents required medical attention.
Based on investigation, the intake valve on the bottom of the submarine toy can suck up loose skin and cause possible laceration to children.
Both the agency and the manufacturers also called on consumers to return the product for replacement. The toy in question was sold in retail and children stores nationwide from November 2009 to September 2010.
